The autofocus frame (AF frame) indicates the area used to set the
focus. Select from among the following focusing methods.

Shooting Mode
On
You can have the camera automatically detect
the position of a face and use this data to set the
focus and exposure* while shooting. In addition,
the camera will meter the subject so that the face
is correctly illuminated when the flash fires.
* Only in evaluative metering mode (p. 51).
Off
The camera focuses using the center AF frame.
This is convenient for focusing on a specific part
of a subject with greater certainty.
