MULTI-POINT AIAF
Canon’s wide-area AiAF intelligently and automatically
selects one or more focusing points based on factors,
such as subject position and motion. AiAF works
in conjunction with iSAPS Technology to more
quickly and accurately achieve autofocus under
a wide variety of shooting conditions. You get fast,
accurate AF whether you hold the camera horizontally
or vertically, with stationary or moving subjects,
with off-center subjects, and even in low-light/low-
contrast lighting.
FLEXIZONE AF/AE*
Using FlexiZone AF/AE, you can freely move a single
AF point around the frame. Now you can easily
focus on off-center subjects without reframing
the shot. When spot metering is selected, you
can choose to measure exposure at the chosen
AF point or at the center of the frame. This option
gives you maximum flexibility, enabling you to
handle difficult lighting situations like a pro.
RAW MODE*
The PowerShot G9’s RAW Mode lets you shoot
images without processing them in any way.
It gives you complete creative control in editing.
RAW images are processed in your computer,
using Canon’s supplied RAW Image Task
software. A wide range of variables can be
adjusted in processing to produce exactly the
final image you want.

RED-EYE CORRECTION*
≥ III allows some PowerShot models to detect
and correct red-eye during playback. In unusual
cases where red-eye is not automatically detected,
it can easily be corrected manually from the LCD
screen.
ISO SETTING
Canon PowerShot cameras give you a choice of
ISO-equivalent settings. Low ISO speeds give you
better image quality, while high ISO speeds reduce
the effects of camera shake or blurring of moving
subjects and sharpen photos in low-light situations.
While the camera will automatically select the best
ISO speed for conditions,
in manual and advanced
shooting modes, you can set
the ISO to 80, 100, 400, 800
or ISO 1600.** When shooting
at high ISO speeds, select
PowerShot digital cameras
can apply automatic Noise
Reduction for beautiful
prints at even the highest
ISO speeds.
AUTO ISO SHIFT*
In general, sensitivity should be set to the lowest
level the ambient light allows, yet too low a setting
can cause camera blurry photos. PowerShot cameras
with Auto ISO Shift provide options when shooting
to prevent unsatisfactory images. In addition to
allowing the user to trigger when the ISO can be
changed, Auto ISO Shift now can automatically
adjust sensitivity for the given light while notifying
the photographer.

Face Detection AF finds faces, tracks them as you frame
your shot, then delivers perfect focus. New models let
you select, track and focus a single face within a group.
Face Selector AF* enables to focus on a specific face
only. The selected face is
being double-framed and
tracked when the face
moves in the frame.
Face Detection AE makes all your group shots better
by properly illuminating both the faces and the
background areas.
Face Detection FE* adjusts the flash exposure based on
the location of the faces in the frame.

FACE DETECTION AF/AE/FE*
†
Cameras equipped with the ≥III Image Processor
feature Face Detection Technology. When the shutter
button is pressed halfway, the camera finds faces in the
frame to ensure excellent focus, proper illumination of
both the face(s) and the overall scene, and adjusts the
flash for the location of the face(s).
