5. Computer Requirements
The Videography Information Technology (VIT) Specialist needs to know computer
set up, operation and maintenance in order to ensure support for video imaging
missions. The VIT Specialist should also know how to install and maintain software
and accessories. The Specialist will also help train other personnel on basic
computer tasks.
Transferring, storing, viewing, and editing photos impose certain demands upon a
computer. You need plenty of RAM and disk space for these files.
CAP missions do not require (or even want) you to edit videos; video editing requires
a powerful computer with a very large hard drive and special hardware and software.
For these reasons, we will not be concerned with the demands of video editing. You
usually only need to view video on the camcorder’s LCD or on a TV or monitor to
ensure it meets mission requirements. However, you may need to download video
onto the computer in order to transfer it to a CD or DVD to send to the customer.
The Videography IT Specialist needs to be familiar with imaging mission requirements
so as to configure the base computer, install necessary special software, and maintain
the computer, computer accessories and camera/camcorder equipment.
The following discusses the minimum computer hardware, software, and accessories
needed to support aerial photography missions. Computer and camera/camcorder
maintenance is also discussed.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe the minimum hardware requirements for a basic Windows PC
