How to Use this Text
As a reference text this document contains more material than is needed
to qualify. Objectives are listed at the beginning of each chapter. These
objectives match a task in the applicable Task Guide for each crew
position; the applicable tasks and the guides to which they belong are listed
in brackets next to the Objective. For example, [AP-P-001] next to an
Objective shows that the related task can be found in Airborne
Photographer Task Guide AP-P-001. If an Objective covers material found
in more than one Task Guide, it will appear like [AP-P-001; VIT-P-001],
which shows the Objective relates to both Airborne Photographer and VIT
Specialist Task Guides.
Microsoft PowerPoint slide presentations act as complementary
information to the text and associated Task Guides. Although developed
and organized for instructors, the slides contain many examples of photos
that are not found in the text and should be viewed by students studying the
text or task guides.
This is a mission-specific text. See the Mission Scanner and the
Mission Observer/SAR-DR Mission Pilot Reference Texts for the academic
knowledge and operational tasks required by the CAP Mission Scanner,
Mission Observer, and SAR/DR Mission Pilot specialty ratings.
This text and supporting material was developed by Lt. Col. Richard
Simerson with input and assistance from several valuable sources within
Texas Wing, particularly Lt Col Brooks Cima, Lt Col Don Fisher, and Lt
Col Jack Jackson. If you have any comments or suggestions or wish to
provide extra information or photos, please e-mail rsim@suddenlink.net.
