Reset the cassette
properly.
Check from Item 7.
Reset the lever.
Check if the lifting plate
retaining roller is dam-
aged.
Advise the user to use
the proper amount of
paper.
Replace the paper.
Advise the user of stor-
age methods.
Advise the user to use
the recommended
paper.
Clean the roller. If the
trouble is not resolved,
replace the roller.
Reconnect properly.
Replace the pick-up
solenoid.
Repair the cable con-
nection.
Replace the pick-
up/feeding clutch
(CL301).
Checks
Does the trouble occur at cassette
pick-up?
Is the pick-up roller of the selected
pick-up level rotating?
Is the cassette set properly?
Is the trouble resolved when a differ-
ent cassette is used?
Is the paper size lever set to the
proper position?
Does the cassette’s lifting plate rise
when the cassette is set into the
Main unit?
Has too much paper (limit 250
sheets) been set in the cassette?
Is the paper curled, wavy or other-
wise altered?
Is the trouble resolved when paper
recommended by Canon is used?
Check the surfaces of the pick-up,
feeder and separation rollers of the
selected pick-up level. Are they nor-
mal?
Check the status connection status
of the following.
Main unit pick-up cassette:
Cable between connector J306 on
the DC controller PCB and the pick-
up solenoid (SL301)
Cassette feeder:
Cable between connector J653 on
the feeder controller PCB and the
pick-up solenoid (SL651)
Check the cable connection between
connector J307 on the DC controller
PCB and the pick-up/feeding clutch
(CL301). Is it normal?
