2.4 Picking Up and Separating Originals
2.4.1 Outline
The pickup roller unit is butted against the original, and the pickup roller is rotated to pick
up an original. The pickup roller unit is moved up/down by the pickup motor (M3), and the
pickup roller is rotated by the separation motor (M4) and the separation clutch (CL).
Originals are separated by the separation roller and the separation belt with the help of the
feeding roller. The rollers and the belt are driven by the separation motor (M4) and the sepa-
ration clutch (CL).
The separation assembly is equipped with a separation sensor (S4) and a skew sensor (S5)
to monitor the movement of originals.
