selected after selecting a modulation speed so as to use the best circuit condition.

Both declare possible modulation modes.
Both declare the presence of V.34,
and a switch-over is made to V.34.

Both declare possible modulation speeds,
frequencies and other modem capabilities,
the receiving device determines the modulation
speed based on the results of receiving the
probing signal coming from the transmitting device.
The receiving device sends a training signal
for determination of the transmission speed.

The most appropriate transmission speed is
determined based on how the training signal
has been received.
The same pre-procedure as used in normal
T.30 is executed in 1200 bps.
A training signal is sent using the selected
parameter, and image data is sent thereafter.
