Troubleshooting
When the “Could not complete installation correctly” or “Communication between the camera
and computer failed” message appears, check the items described below.
I have installed the software but the camera and
computer cannot communicate.
Are you using the following type of computer?
A Macintosh computer with a FireWire (IEEE1394) connector as a standard feature.
(* A Macintosh computer does not support FireWire connections that are not a standard
feature of the computer.)
Are the camera and your computer connected correctly?
Connect the camera to your computer correctly using the interface cable. (2-2)
Is there sufficient charge left in the camera battery?
Your computer does not supply power to the camera. Connect the DC Coupler Kit to the
camera or load a fully charged battery into the camera before connecting it to your
computer. (“Installing and Removing the Battery” in the EOS-1Ds Instructions.)
Do you have more than one interface cable connected?
If you connect more than one interface cable to the same computer, File Viewer Utility and
camera may not operate normally.
Shut down File Viewer Utility and disconnect all the interface cables. Then reconnect just
the interface cable that connects the camera to your computer.
