All the features of the Perfection 1670 PHOTO, the Perfection 3170 PHOTO
steps up with superior 3200 x 6400 dpi resolution (enough for 11 x 14˝ prints
at 300 dpi) and 3.4 Dmax, making it deal for professional photography appli-
cations. Like the 1670 it includes a convenient four-button interface with
start, scan to web, scan to e-mail, and photo scanning buttons. Also offers
lightning-fast USB 2.0 connectivity and is bundled with Adobe Photoshop
Elements, Epson Smart Panel with NewSoft OCR and Epson TWAIN scanning
software. For even more versatility, it includes a built-in 35mm slide/film
strip and medium format adapter allowing you to scan even larger trans-
parencies. Even offers an optional ADF (automatic document feeder).

Epson’s Smart Panel Software is a unique program
that fully integrates all functions of the scanner
into one convenient creative center. Gives you the
ability to initiate scanner functions with a simple
click. Smart Panel provides an icon for each of the
following applications:

Epson Easy Photo Fix Technology —
It is hard to imagine, but there are billions of photographs in existence either
being stored in albums, frames, or shoeboxes and many of them are showing
signs of fading or have already faded. There are several factors which can cause
photos to fade, including processing chemicals, paper types and various environ-
mental factors. These fading memories can now be easily and affordably
restored with the Epson Easy Photo Fix software in the Perfection 1670 PHOTO
and 3170 PHOTO.
The EPSON Perfection 3170 PHOTO and 1670 PHOTO are the first scanners to include
Epson Easy Photo Fix technology, which provides users with an easy one-touch solu-
tion for restoring color to old photographs, negatives and slides, and removing dust
from old slides and negatives. Simply scan an image and click on a check box for
instant color restoration or dust removal. Epson Easy Photo Fix makes this process
effortless since it is incorporated into the Epson Scan driver. The software has three
different user modes:
• Full Auto mode, which automatically scans at pre-determined settings for entry-level
users
• Home mode, which offers some pre-set recommended settings for the advanced
amateur
• Professional mode, which is completely manual to give the advanced user more
control.
