FEATURES
2400- and 3200-dpi Flatbed Scanners
with Integrated 35mm Film Adapter
The CanoScan “CS” series of color flatbed scanners—the CS-5000F, CS-8000F and
CS-9900F—make film and photo scanning easy with their built-in 35mm adapter
(up to 4x5˝ on the CS-9900F) for negatives and slides. In fact, with their film
adapter you can batch scan three 35mm negative frames at a time (5000F), 12 at
a time (8000F) or 24 at a time (9900F). The CanoScan CS-5000F has a 6.5-second
preview, while the CS-8000F offers a lightning fast 4.7-second preview and the CS-
9900 an incredible 3-second preview. They also all feature automatic removal of
dust and scratches via Canon’s FARE technology (Film Automatic Retouching and
Enhancement) which uses infrared light source to detect dust and scratches on the film plane.
◆ The CS-5000F and CS-8000F offer 2400 x 1200 dpi and 48-bit color
scanning, creating a color gamut of over 281 trillion possible col-
ors - the most colors for any scanner. The top-of-the line CS-9900F
offers 3200 x 6400 dpi for ultra high-resolution color scans,
◆ Four external buttons make it easy for you to scan, copy, e-mail or
file to PDF your choice of photos, documents, negatives or slides.
For added ease, you can even store complete photo libraries
directly to CDs (Windows systems only). The CS-9900F also has a
Multi-Scan mode that lets you scan multiple images in one pass
while even adjusting slightly misaligned images.
◆ The CS-9900F (only) lets you scan transparencies or negatives in a
wide range of sizes: 35mm, medium-format and 4x5˝. To quickly
and easily add negatives or slides to any project, a built-in 35mm
film adapter scan up to 24 negative frames at a time. In addition,
the CS-9900F is equipped with high-speed USB 2.0 interface as well
as a IEEE1394 interface for incredibly fast scanning.
◆ In addition to their high-resolution scanning capability, Canon has
equipped them with another imaging technology to improve their
scanned image quality -- FARE (Film Automatic Retouching and
Enhancement) technology. This technology feature offers you the
ability to automatically conduct professional retouching right on
their desktop - removing scratches, dust and other imperfections
that appear on the original image helping to create a more pris-
tine scan. By using an infrared light source in the film adapter in
addition to the white light source, FARE interpolates the data to
fill in the blemishes found on the original image.
◆ They are bundled with an assortment of software for instant pro-
ductivity. They include Photoshop Elements, ArcSoft PhotoStudio
and PhotoBase to enhance, edit, and organize you images. In addi-
tion, OmniPage OCR turns paper into PC documents without
retyping, and the CanoScan Toolbox turns your scanner into a
multi-function workstation that quickly scans images and sends
them to your fax, e-mail or printer for a quick copy.
