DIMAGE SCAN MULTI PRO
4800 dpi Multi-Format Film Scanner
Redefining the quality standard for multi-format film scanning, the Dimage
Scan Multi PRO features high-resolution 4800 dpi scans with 16-bit A/D con-
version and a 4.8 dynamic range that preserves subtle tones and details.
Combined with precision autofocus and Color Matching System, a unique
glass-less Universal Holder, and enhanced batch scanning capability, the
Multi PRO delivers professional high-quality images while reducing total
work time. Ideal for professional photographers and business professionals
in a variety of applications including industrial, education and law enforce-
ment.
The Multi PRO scans 35mm and medium-format (120/220) films, while an
optional Multi Format Set enables scanning of Transparent Electronic
Microscope (TEM) film, microfilm in aperture cards, 16mm film, Minox, and 24 x 65mm panoramic format. In addition, this
compact scanner also features dual high-speed interface (Ultra-SCSI and IEEE 1394) and image enhancement with Digital
ICE. With Applied Science Fiction's (ASF) Digital ICE technology incorporated in the Multi PRO, you save time and money
by producing professional-quality images without resorting to time-consuming digital retouching. Digital ICE eliminates
scratches on photographic film or slides, restores faded colors and improves on a photograph's overall appearance by mini-
mizing grain, quickly and automatically, during the scanning process, saving hours of manual work.

◆ With resolution up to 4,800 dpi, the Multi
PRO delivers sharp, highly detailed
scans—suitable for fine exhibition-out-
put— of various film formats, from 35mm
to 120/220. With a pixel count of more than
33-million, an A3-size output can retain a
resolution of more than 400 dpi. Medium
format film can also have a 4800 dpi inter-
polated resolution for high resolution
images up to 6x9cm with 169 million pixels
and 600 dpi.
◆ The scanner’s core component, 7260-pixel,
3-line color CCD is enhanced by the inclu-
sion of a dual focus-length lens system.
This combination makes it possible to pro-
duce superior quality scans from any of
the compatible films to offer excellent
results with large-format printing.
◆ The Multi Pro features an improved nega-
tive-to-positive conversion to give you
optimized color images from negative film
sources. This is important because nega-
tive film has varying characteristics,
depending on which manufacturer it’s
from, the type of scene photographed, and
shooting conditions.
◆ 16-bit A/D conversion enables the scanner
to differentiate 65,536 gradations in each
of its RGB channels .This leads to images
with richer tonal variations, smoother gra-
dations, and a greater amount of visible
detail in shadow areas. The scanner's wide
4.8 dynamic range further ensures shad-
ows and highlight detail are retained.
◆ The Multi PRO ensures clearer, more natu-
ral images through multi-sample scanning.
By taking 2, 4, 8, or 16 sample scans and
then averaging the sample images, the
scanner significantly reduces random
noise from the completed scan.
◆ Automatically adjusts to the density range
of scanned negatives to optimize reproduc-
tion. For example, negatives with a large
density range, such as pictures with back-
lit subjects, are controlled so that the high-
light area retains detail rather than being
washed out. Color images with a dominant
color are analyzed to preserve the original
appearance of the scene. The AE Area
Lock allows you to adjust exposure of the
film by selecting an area on the image to
calculate a new exposure.
◆ Color matching system supports numer-
ous color spaces, to promote uniform
color reproduction across different moni-
tors, operating systems, and image editing
software. Multi Pro’s Color Matching
System offers sRGB, Apple RGB, SMPTE-C,
PAL/SECAM, and other color space set-
tings to ensure images on one monitor dis-
play the same colors on another monitor.
◆ Equipped with a full array of image correc-
tion functions. Adjustable parameters
include tone-curve/histogram, color bal-
ance, hue/saturation, unsharp mask and
more. When using the Variation Correction
palette, the compensation window dis-
plays thumbnails of the different adjust-
ments made to the current image. Also
includes preview image trimming, color
selection, and prescan size selection.
◆ Minolta's focus adjustment technology
ensures that even low contrast images are
accurately scanned, and the scanner's fast
Autofocus calibration reduces overall aut-
ofocus time. Point AF and manual control
(adjustable in ±200 steps) are included for
added flexibility.
