Installation, Operation and Maintainance of Buoy Operated Automatic Meteorological Stations
Annex 6: Guidelines for Loading BUOY_METSTAT Datalogger Program into Program
Location 7 & 8 of the SM4M Storage Module
6-A General
As discussed in chapter 2, the two datalogger programs need to be stored in program location 7 and 8 of the SM4M
storage Module. It is advised to permanently store:
1. “BUOY_METSTAT1” for Khalabshah Khor in program location 7 of the SM4M; and
2. “BUOY_METSTAT2” for Toshka Khor in program location 8 of the SM4M.
In this case, reloading BUOY_METSTAT into the CR10X datalogger is accomplished by connecting the SM4M to the
logger, and toggling the switch on the CH12R charger and power supply OFF/ON. The respective datalogger program
is then stored in the logger’s RAM by following the instructions given in chapter 2, and made the active datalogger
program without any further user intervention.
This annex presents detailed instructions how to store BUOY_METSTAT1 and BUOY_METSTAT2 into program loca-
tion 7 and 8 of the SM4M
6-B Hardware Connection
Figure A6 presents the hardware components required for connecting the SM4M to PC..

SC532A
PC
Figure A6: Hardware Components Involved in Connecting SM4M to PC
The SC532A interface converts the specific data structure of the SM4M to RS-232 Personal Computer compatible
format. Since it runs on 110 V, use a 220-110 transformer between mains and the SC532A.
Note: Do not keep 220-110V transformer near to the PC/Monitor otherwise the screen will start flickering.
Connect the 9pin serial cable to the SC532A and serial port 1 or 2 of the PC. Connect the SM4M with the blue SC12
cable to the SC532A interface. All hardware components are now installed. Make sure power is supplied to the
SC532A.
