4.4.Creating Effects
Cameo D4 includes a powerful effects generator called XEEL. The XEEL contains hundreds of effects which can be quickly applied
to a selection of fixtures and generated into steps without having to add each step individually. To create an Effect:
Select the fixtures you want to include within the effect
Select from one of the 4 effect types
Adjust the properties
Click the ‘Generate’ button
Custom effect presets can be loaded and saved1.
One of 4 different effect types can be chosen (further information below)2.
The length of the effect can be chosen3.
Effects can be generated within a new empty scene or in the existing scene4.
If ‘On Current Step’ is selected, the effect will begin on the currently selected step5.
‘Include Set Levels’ will include any currently set fader/palette levels on each step of the generated6.

Compression will reduce the number of steps used in the generated effect. This is useful if the7.
individual steps need to be edited after generating the effect, or if the scene will be written to the
stand alone memory of a device where memory space is limited. This feature is also useful if the
software is being used in express mode where the maximum number of steps allowed is limited
