Local PC Serial Communication
The 822-1XRT and 882-EVDO modems allow AT command communication through the serial port.
Below is a quick guide on setting up the serial parameters and acquiring IP information without using
the Ethernet connection. More information can be found on serial communication in Section 14.
1. Connect the modem to an active COM port on a PC with an RS-232 9 pin straight through cable.
2. Attach the antenna and power connector.
3. Connect with a Hyper-Terminal session set to 115,200, 8 Bits, No Parity, 1 Stop Bit, and
Hardware Flow Control enabled. Refer to Figure 4.7.

4. Type the ATI command in Hyper-Terminal to confirm contact with the modem. This prints the
modem’s part number family and the firmware revision level, see example output for an 882-
HSDP modem below:
