Engineering Guide Specications
Valve Options
• Optional 2-way, Normally Open (N.O.) or Normally Closed (N.C.) motorized valves.
• Optional 2-way, mechanical ball valve
Automatic Flow Hose Kit
The automatic ow hose kit shall include an automatic ow control valve, two ball valves, two exible hoses, a high ow
Y-strainer, and may include a strainer blow-down and various other accessories. The automatic ow control valve shall be
factory set to a rated ow, and shall automatically control the ow to within 10% of the rated value over a 40 to 1 differen-
tial pressure, operating range (2 to 80 PSID). Operational temperature shall be rated from uid freezing, to 225°F. The valve
body shall be constructed from hot forged brass UNS C37700 per ASTM B-283 latest revision.
Replacement Filters
2-inch MERV 8, 4 inch MERV 13, and 2-inch disposable lters shall be available as direct replacement to factory-installed
lters.
Electric Heat Coils
An optional 5, 10, 15, or 20 kW eld installed duct heater shall be available. These heaters will require a eld provided power
source. 15 and 20 kW heaters shall be 2-stage.
Vertical Unit
General
Units shall be supplied completely factory assembled, piped, internally wired, fully charged with R-410A and capable of
operation with an entering water temperature range from 55°F to 110°F on water loop models, 30°F to 110°F on geothermal
ground loop and ground water models. All equipment must be rated and certied in accordance with ARI / ISO 13256-1
and must be tested, investigated, and determined to comply with the requirements of the standards for Heating and Cooling
Equipment UL-1995 for the United States and CAN/CSA-C22.2 NO.236 for Canada. The units shall have AHRI/ISO and
ETL-US-C labels. Each unit shall be run tested at the factory. The installing contractor shall be responsible for furnishing and
installing McQuay Water Source Heat Pumps as indicated on the plans and per installation instructions.
Casing and Cabinet
The outer cabinet shall be powder-coat painted as standard color textured paint. The cabinet shall be fabricated from heavy
gauge G-60 galvanized sheet metal with interior surfaces lined with the following insulation options:
Standard insulation in the compressor compartment shall b 1/2" berglass – multicoated type. Standard insulation on the air
side shall be 1/2" berglass cleanable foil faced type with edges sealed or tucked in order to prevent introduction of bers
into the discharge air. Standard cabinet insulation must meet NFPA 90A requirements, air erosion and mold growth limits of
UL-181, fungal resistance test per ASTM-C1071 and ASTM G21, and shall meet zero level bacteria growth per ASTM G22.
All insulation shall have a ame spread of less than 25 and a smoke developed classication of less than 50 per ASTM E-84
and UL 723.
■ Factory-installed option 1: Compressor Section & Air Handling Section
• 1/2-inch thick, 1-1/2 lb. [1/2" thick coated glass ber insulation foil faced ber insulation for ease of cleaning.
• Factory-installed option 2: Compressor Section & Air Handling Section
■ 3/8-inch thick closed-cell non-brous IAQ insulation
A geothermal extended range option shall be available for all high efciency products and is made up of a refrigerant meter-
ing device (TXV) and wrapped condenser coil. Closed cell insulation shall be added to the internal water lines and on suction
side refrigerant tubing including refrigerant to water heat exchanger.
Airow Congurations
Units shall be congured in one of the following airow arrangements:
■ Left Return/Top Discharge
■ Right Return/Top Discharge
