Terminology
This section defines several terms used in this guide to describe the
Ungermann Bass concentrator and board model types. The terms are as follows:
Hub
For the purposes of this guide, the general term hub replaces the term
concentrator in representing Ungermann Bass devices.
Hub chassis
The software model representation of the Ungermann Bass hub (4 or 12 slots)
with no boards installed in any of its slots.
MIMs (Media Interface Modules)
The software model representations of boards installed in an Ungermann
Bass hub chassis. There are two types of MIMs: Intelligent MIMs, which
provide network management functions and network media interfacing; and
Non-Intelligent MIMs, which provide interfaces to different kinds of
network media, but have no network management capabilities.

description of your particular Ungermann Bass hub or Media Interface
Module.

Describes the FDDI major applicastions and
minor applications.
Chapter 8
Other Applications
Describes all other applications not
previously described in other applications
chapters. Other applications include
Bridging, Token Ring, TR Tier, FDDI, and
Trap.

Messages
Lists and explains the event/alarm messages
generated in the Event Log or Alarm Log
View for any model of an Ungermann Bass
hubs.
