System Logging
In this dialog, shown in Figure 3.22 on the next page, configure the behav-
ior of the Syslog daemon. You have the option of sending the output of the
syslogd to the text console ‘Log to /dev/tty9’ (
Ctrl +
Alt +
F9 ), to the hard
disk ‘Log to hard disk’, and to a log host. Enter one or more IP addresses of
hosts to which the logs should be written. These hosts must be configured to
accept the logs. The Adminhost is already prepared for these tasks.
Log evaluation in FAS is activated if you enter the IP address of the Admin-
host and select ‘Enable Log and Traffic Evaluation’. Evaluating logs using
FAS is described in Log File Analysis on page 99.
