Chapter 2
Installation
This chapter describes how to install the CS2and MMS2 software.
Although the installation process is identical to that used to install the
previously released CS1 and MMS1 software, we urge you to completely read
the instructions in this chapter before proceeding.
Pre-Installation Instructions
Before invoking the Install program, be sure to save your current
CsStdMenu
file by changing directory to <
SPECTRUM Home
>/
app-defaults
and
copying
CsStdMenu
to
CsStdMenu.ori
at the command line. (CS2 includes a
new
CsStdMenu
file, to which you may wish to transfer any customized
settings contained in your current
CsStdMenu
file.)
Before invoking the Install program, be sure to save your current
dtxscript
file by changing directory to <
SPECTRUM Home
>/
SG-Tools
and copying
dtxscript
to
dtxscript.ori
at the command line. (CS2 includes a new
dtxscript
file, to which you may wish to transfer any customized settings
contained in your current
dtxscript
file.)
Before invoking the Install program, make sure that all SPECTRUM
processes have been shut down, including SpectroGRAPH, SpectroSERVER,

1. If you are going to run SPECTRUM 5.0rev1 on the Solaris 2.7 operating
system, ensure that the appropriate SunOS patches are installed on your
system . (See New Feature, Solaris 2.7 Support on Page 1-3 for a list of the
SunOS patches.) SunOS patches are not included in CS2/MMS2.
2. CS2 must be installed in its entirety (prior to installing any MMS2
software) on all systems containing a SpectroSERVER or SpectroGRAPH. It
is not necessary for CS1, MMS1, or any of the patches listed in Chapter 5,
Software Superseded by CS2/MMS2, to have been installed on your
SPECTRUM 5.0rev1 system prior to installing CS2 and MMS2.
