Installing CS3
Installing CS3
Install the CS3 software as described below.
1. Change directory to <full path of the vtape_CS3 directory> to
verify the path (that is, {CD-ROM Drive directory}/CS3/
{platform}/vtape_CS3).
2. Change directory to the <SPECTRUM Home> directory.
3. Extract the contents of the release file labeled vtape.0 by
performing one of the following steps:

1. Refer to the SPECTRUM Installation Guide for instructions on
installing from a local or remote CD-ROM drive.
2. For Windows NT, use the SpectroSHELL by selecting it from the
SPECTRUM Programs folder.
NOTE
There is a new version of "newtar" included with CS3 for extracting
the release contents for Solaris systems. The change to "newtar"
allows a -u flag, which honors umask even if run as the root user.
This means that SPECTRUM can extract the files as you like
according to your umask setting. However, this only affects the
products/files that you are currently installing. Any files that are
currently set to have write privileges to the group "other" will have to
be changed manually. This -u flag is only applied for the extraction of
CS3 on the Solaris platform.
