Known Network Configuration Utilities Anomalies in SPECTRUM 6.5
SPECTRUM Software Release Notice Page 56
Problem 3: When changing the SPECTRUM community string on certain
SmartSwitch 9000 blades (such as the 9E133-36 and 9E132-15) with the
Modify Community Strings tool, SUCCESS is reported in both the
Operation Status tab panel and the device list’s Status column. However,
the change is not made, which can be verified as follows:
1 Right-click the device model in SpectroGRAPH.
2 Select Model Information.
Notice that the Security String still has the original value.
Solution: To change the SPECTRUM community string for these devices:
1 Right-click the device model in SpectroGRAPH
2 Select Model Information.
3 Change the Security String to the proper value.
This problem will be corrected in a future release of SPECTRUM.
Problem 4: When you attempt to Download Firmware with an incorrect
TFTP server address the action will fail, but with some devices you will
receive an ambiguous error message which states, TFTP Error: File Not
Found. The message should read: No response from specified server.
The ambiguous message will occur on some device firmware downloads.
Still in other firmware downloads, the message will be correct.
Solution: This error originates with the device, not Firmware Download.
If you receive this error, verify that the TFTP server is valid and available,
in addition to verifying the file information.
