Gateways to Other Management Systems
Southbound Gateway
SPECTRUM’s new Southbound Gateway functionality now integrates
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and non-SNMP data from
third-party sources. Often these third-party sources are other network
management applications that specialize in monitoring specific aspects in
a computing environment. With Southbound Gateway, you can centralize
network management allowing SPECTRUM to capture and display event
data from other systems. The data is then organized into SPECTRUM
event and alarm data as appropriate and displayed within Alarm
Manager, SpectroGRAPH, and other SPECTRUM viewing applications.
For more information on how Southbound Gateway can be used with any
incoming data formats please refer to the Southbound Gateway Toolkit
Guide.
Transaction Language 1
SPECTRUM also adds support for the Transaction Language 1 protocol
(TL1). The TL1 Gateway translates autonomous messages originating
from a TL1 device into SPECTRUM events, and alarms. The TL1 protocol
is heavily used in the telecommunications industry’s optical and
broadband technologies.
SPECTRUM Modeling Gateway
The SPECTRUM Modeling Gateway is a command line utility that enables
the import of network topology information from XML input files into the
