Performance Improvement
The following improvements in SPECTRUM performance now are
obtainable with the release of SPECTRUM 6.5:
On Solaris: 50-100% capacity gain.
On Windows NT: 150-200% capacity gain.
“Capacity gain” refers to the number of devices managed by a single
SpectroSERVER.
In SpectroWATCH, performance has been improved resulting in greater
device management capacity.
Web Operator 6.5
A redesigned user interface adds color to application views, provides new
images and fonts, and rearranges menus to increase work space. At the
top of the Web Operator interface, an application menu displays links to
Foundation or Suite applications. The Alarm Presentation Editor and
Event Presentation Editor have been moved inside Alarm and Event
Reports. The logout link, update password link, and Quick Search have
been moved to the top right of the Web Operator interface.
You also now have the ability to customize Web Operator globally or for
individual users. In all applications, table columns can be rearranged,
added, removed, and sorted. In Model Search, search types can be added
or removed from the search list, and search results can be customized to
show user-specified data.
An upgrade to version 1.3.1 of Java 2 Standard Development Kit (SDK)
and Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) improves Web Operator
performance, and the availability of Java SDK and Java JRE on the
SPECTRUM application CD simplifies installation. The Java 2 SDK can be
installed from the application CD and the Java JRE can be downloaded
from the machine where Web Operator is installed. These components no
longer need to be downloaded from the Sun Web site.
