Preface

This chapter describes the purpose and content of the Management Module

SRN, explains the SPECTRUM

version control scheme, and identiﬁes

additional sources of information about SPECTRUM products.

Purpose of This Document

This Software Release Notice (SRN) accompanies each copy of the release

package for the FCS release of version 5.0 rev 1 for SPECTRUM’s

management modules. A new SRN is issued and packaged with each

subsequent SPECTRUM release. The SRN is intended to do the following:

• Alert the user about product enhancements or changes

• List ﬁrmware requirements for the current version, when possible

• Identify any operational anomalies corrected since the previous

SPECTRUM release

• Explain remaining anomalies and offer comments, solution, or

workarounds wherever feasible

• Identify any updates or corrections to related documentation

Up-to-date ﬁrmware version numbers are listed with most products in this

document. Some third-party management modules are tested against an older

ﬁrmware version than the version you may be using. If the updated ﬁrmware

is not available at the time of product testing, the last tested ﬁrmware version

number is usually listed with each management module’s product

information. For more information on Cabletron-speciﬁc product ﬁrmware

It is strongly recommended that you read this SRN each time you receive an

updated SPECTRUM software, so that you will be aware of any version

changes in the product. You should also read this SRN to familiarize yourself

with known and corrected anomalies for each SPECTRUM management

module.
