c. ConnectPterminaltotachometerorrelay.

7. Alternatoroutputtest(conduct test with fully
charged batteries):
a. Turnon28-voltbatterysystemandstart
engine.
b. Turnonallvehicleloads,includinginterior/
exteriorlightsandairconditioning.
c. Measurevoltageatalternator.Voltagereading
shouldbe27.6–28.0Vonlowsettingof
regulatorand28.5–29.0Vonhighsetting.

d. Checkbatterycablevoltagedrop.Thereshould
benomorethan0.4Vdropon each legfrom
alternatortobattery.
e. Roadtestvehicleforabout20minutes.
f. Followingroadtest,repeatoutputtest.
Regulatorsusedwiththesealternators
featureovervoltagecutout(OVCO),which
disablesalternatoroutputinanovervoltage
condition.RestartingengineresetsOVCO
circuit.Whenanovervoltageconditionisno
longerpresent,alternatorandregulator
shouldoperatenormally.Ifano-outputcon-
ditionshouldoccur,followaboveresetpro-
ceduretodetermineifOVCOtripiscause.
