Safety instructions
Please read the entire manual before using the device as it contains important
information for proper operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting
damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The
warranty/guarantee will be void in such cases.
This device has left our factory premises in a safe and perfect condition.
We kindly request the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings con-
tained in the enclosed operating instructions so this condition is maintained and
to ensure safe operation.
For safety and approval reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modications to
the product are not permitted.
If you have doubts about how the device should be operated or how to connect it
safely, consult a trained technician.
Measuring instruments and their accessories are not toys and should be kept out
of the reach of children!
On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the
industrial workers society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
Measurement instruments used in schools, training facilities, do-it-yourself and
hobby workshops should not be handled unless supervised by trained, respon-
sible personnel.
Do not use in the immediate vicinity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic elds,
transmitter aerials or HF generators. These can distort the measurement.
Switch the device off and secure against unintended operation, if safe operation is
no longer possible. Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- does not function any longer and
- the unit was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
Never switch the meter on immediately after it has been taken from a cold into a
warm environment. The condensation that forms might destroy your device. Allow
the device to reach room temperature before switching it on.
Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since it could become
a dangerous plaything for children.
You should also heed the safety instructions in each chapter of these instructions.
The built-in instruments must not be used for medical purposes.
Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 33 V AC or 70 V DC!
Even at these voltages, there is a danger of fatal electric shock if you touch electric
conductors.

AC meter DPM-1200
Item no. 1672503
Intended use
The AC electrical energy meter is intended for installation in to control cabinets or sub-distri-
bution units using 35 mm DIN rail mounting as an indoor meter. The meter displays the active
energy in single-phase 2-wire power systems with a reference current of 5 A (45 A limiting
current). Energy consumption is shown in kilowatts per hour (kWh). For further data collection,
a metrological constant is available (S0 interface). This signal ashes with an interval of 2000
pulses per kWh and can be used for tapping optional recording devices. An LED also shows
the pulses in a visual way.
The green-lit digital display uses 5 digits and 2 decimal digits. The display is blocked against
rewind and cannot be reset. Energy is counted up in both directions (current drain / feeding
direction).
Connection is straightforward without any external components. Corresponding series resis-
tors/current shunts are already integrated.
The energy meter may only be put into use after it has been installed. The relevant regulations
are to be observed.
Front panel with display complies with protection class 2 and is touch-protected. The screw
terminals must be protected against touch by design (installation in sub-distribution units, etc.).
Screw terminals can be provided with covers and secured with optional seals.
The meter is MID compliant and may be used for billing purposes. MID approval is valid for
up to 8 years from the date of manufacture. The MID conformity marking is based on a type
approval test.
Do not use this product in wet rooms or outdoors. For this purpose, relevant sub-distribution
units with moisture protection (IP54 class or higher) are to be used.
The operation in potentially explosive atmospheres (Ex) or wet areas or under adverse environ-
mental conditions is forbidden. Adverse environmental conditions are: Moisture or high humi-
dity, dust and ammable gases, fumes or solvents, as well as thunderstorms or thunderstorm
conditions like strong electrostatic elds etc.
No part of the product may be modied or converted!
The assembly and installation may only be carried out by a trained electrician
who is familiar with the relevant regulations and the potential hazards.
The safety instructions have to be followed without fail!
The technical data must be observed and must not be exceeded.
