4.4. 4-Port 10/100Base-TX Ethernet PCI Adapter (DCCG149)
The 4-Port 10/100Base-TX Ethernet PCI Adapter provides the equivalent of four separate Ethernet
adapters on one PCI-bus card.
Product Positioning
The 4-Port 10/100Base-TX Ethernet PCI adapter should be considered where maximum port density is
required per I/O card slot. However, for high end systems, where card slots are not the limiting factor
and maximum throughput is required, a single port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PCI adapter (DCCG137 or
DCCG143) is the preferred solution.
Below are some performance factors to consider when choosing the right adapter for your needs.
These performance comparisons are based on all four ports of the 4-Port 10/100Base-TX Ethernet PCI
adapter being active.
A single 4-Port 10/100Base-TX Ethernet PCI adapter is expected to deliver up to three times the
performance of a single port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PCI adapter.
Under most conditions, each port of the 4-Port 10/100Base-TX Ethernet PCI adapter is expected to
perform at greater than 50% the throughput of a single port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PCI adapter.
Note:
The resulting performance in your environment compared to the above may vary, and depends
upon your system model, the I/O configuration and associated workload of your applications.
