2.3. 8-Port Async Controller EIA-232 and RS-422 (DCCG130, DCCG160 for PL240T and
PL420T)
The 8-port Async Controller provides support for attaching a maximum of eight EIA-232
asynchronous serial devices (such as modems, terminals, and printers) to an Escala system unit.

Cables
The base board provides a 78-pin female D-shell connector. An 8-port DB25 DTE Connector Box
comes standard with the controller and provides the eight connectors for device attachment. Two
modem cables are available (EIA-232 and RS-422) 3 meters long. One terminal/printer cable (EIA-
232) 20 meters long.
Attachment
The controller fits into a single PCI slot.
System Requirements
DCCG130: AIX 4.3, or later for PL220T, PL400T, T610 and PL600T
DCCG160: AIX 5.1 or later for PL240T and PL420T.
The total number of 8-port controllers is limited to 10.
