4.11. CX400 Dual SP
4.11.1. Highlights
The CX400 extends the CX full 2 Gb product family into the heart of the mid-tier storage market. It
offers the advanced functionality and connectivity required for this networked storage environment.
The CX400 shares consistent software and identical architecture with the CX600.
The CX400 belongs to the DAS line called NDAS.
The CX400 is composed of one Disk Processor Enclosure (DPE), up to 3 Disk Array Enclosures 2
Gbits (DAE2) and one Standby Power Supply (SPS) enclosure.
The DPE enclosure includes the 2 Storage Processors which offer in the front-end four 2Gb/s fibre
channel ports (two per storage processor) and in the back-end two dual 2Gb back-end fibre channel
loops to connect the DAE2. Each storage processor supports a 1GB memory cache. In addition to the
SP, the DPE includes up to 15 disk drives and 2 power supplies with integrated fans. A minimum of 5
drives is mandatory in the DPE and a sixth drive is requested in case of hot spare.
A DAE2 enclosure is a disk drawer which can include up to 15 drives. The CX400 supports up to 3
additionnal DAE2 to reach a total of 60 drives. CX400 supports 36GB and 73 GB 10krpm and 15
krpm drives.
The SPS enclosure includes 2 SPS for redundancy purpose.
The CX400 reaches a high level of performance for a medium range a new level of performance for
high bandwidth and high throughput demanding applications. As it can deliver up to 700 MB/s and
40000 IO/s in cache.
The CX400 supports all the already known array based software provided in the previous DAS :
AccessLogix, SnapView and MirrorView.
