For more information, refer to "2.1. Common Features of the DAS4500/5300/5700 and DAE 5000
Series" earlier in this chapter.
2.4.3. SAN Features
One or multiple servers can be connected to a DAS4500, using the connectors of the SP (two
connectors per SP). The host interface provides SC connectors, with short Wave Length laser for
multimode fibers. External hubs or switches can be used to increase connectivity. Several DAS4500
can be connected to a single HBA on a server using external hubs or switches.
2.5. DAS5700 (Full Fibre RAID Disk Subsystems)
Discontinued as of 31/03/2001.
All addons discontinued as of 31/12/2002.
2.5.1. Highlights
The DAS5700 was the high-end model of the 5000 Series. It is a highly flexible disk subsystem, with
high performance levels, up to 60 disk slots and 18 / 36 / 72 GB disks. Higher capacities (up to 100
disks) can be proposed in SFR.
The DAS5700 is based on DPE and DAE enclosures. The Fibre Channel technology used for the host
connection brings an optimal cabling flexibility, and high transfer rates (up to 120 MB/s with dual SP).
With the DPE design, optimized for OLTP and RAID 5 processing, and the high number of disk, it is
able to sustain a very high IO rate, supporting heavy transactional applications.
