13.3. PL600T Description
The PL600T provides:
•
One 1-way, 2-way, 4-way or 6-way CPU board.
The PL600T supports the following CPU boards:
1-way, 2-way and 4-way RS64-IV@600MHz 64-bit copper based, silicon-on-insulator (SOI) CPU
boards
1-way, 2-way and 4-way RS64-III@450MHz 64-bit CPU boards
6-way PowerPC RS64-IV@668MHz 64-bit copper based, silicon-on-insulator (SOI) CPU boards.
Each processor has 128 KB of internal L1 cache.
L2 associative cache is provided as follows:
2 MB for the 1-way CPU boards
4 MB for the 2-way and 4-way CPU boards
8 MB for the 6-way CPU boards.
The Escala PL600T CPU de-allocation function enables the system to take a failing processor off
line without re-booting the system in the remote possibility that a failure should occur. The service
processor can record this action and notify the systems administrator or service personnel of the
condition. Computing operation continues with the processor deactivated, allowing repair to be
scheduled at a time convenient to your processing schedule.
•
Two 128-bit system buses running at 125 MHz (2 GB/s bandwidth).
•
From 256 MB to 32 GB of Chipkill ECC memory provided by 2 slots fitting 16-slot memory
boards. Memory boards can be populated by 256 MB (2x128MB), 512 MB (2x256MB), 1 GB
(2x512MB) or 2 GB (2x1GB) memory modules (installed in pairs).
•
Two 64-bit PCI buses.
•
Twelve disk bays (1" high) for hot-swap Ultra2 or Ultra3 SCSI disks (Ultra3 SCSI disks require an
Ultra3 SCSI adapter in order to run at 160 MBps).
•
Two disk bays (1” high) for non hot-swap Ultra2 SCSI disks.
•
Two media bays (one occupied by a CD-ROM drive and one free).
•
One floppy disk drive.
•
Ten PCI slots for hot-plug adapters:
Four 64-bit@33MHz.
Six 64-bit@66MHz.
The hot-plug functionality of the PCI I/O subsystem brings new levels of up-time to your system
for the replacement or addition of I/O adapters.
The design of this function shows a concern for the usability and convenience for the customer
who performs this task. Selective disablement of an adapter can be made as necessary while system
operations not dependent on this adapter continue to run without being affected. AIX assists the
user by guiding them through the process, helping to achieve success.
•
Two integrated Ultra2 SCSI controller ports.
•
One integrated 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port.
•
Four RS232 serial ports.
•
One parallel port.
•
One mouse and one keyboard port.
•
Integrated System Support Processor.
•
Optional redundant power supply.
