Instruction Guide
• For cracks widths 0.140” (3.56 mm) or less, place top edge of CRACKMON 224R over crack
• Position comparator until the crack-width matches the actual crack (interpolate if required)
• Use CRACKMON 224R inch or metric rule scale for wider cracks up to 2.5” or 50 mm
• Periodically record results on the Crack-Trend Chart on the reverse side of this data sheet
• For faster visual measurements on up to three axes, document changes vs. time using
Buildera CRACKMON crack monitors and the TRACARD 3D Crack Documenting System
• Record unique serial number and environmental data for engineering traceability

The Buildera CRACKMON® 224R™ Crack-
Width Comparator is ideal for measuring
and documenting cracks in new and existing
concrete, masonry, wood or steel structures.
The comparator features both inch and
metric scales plus 18 precision crack-widths
for accurate and easy crack measurements.
It also includes specific crack-widths set
forth by the American Concrete Institute ACI
224R-01 recommended practice. The gauge
slips easily into your wallet or pocket, and is
excellent for measuring initial crack osets
together with long-term monitoring using
Buildera CRACKMON crack monitors and the
TRACARD® 3D Crack Documenting System.
