RAID Array *1
*1: LS-WXL,
LS-WSXL only
Congure RAID array from this menu.
RAID 0 and RAID 1 mode are available for use. LinkStation will be used just as
the two hard drives if RAID setting is disabled.
Disk Structure:
Displays the hard drive conguring RAID. To congure a RAID array, check the
target drive, select RAID mode and click [Create Array]. To delete the RAID
array, select [Remove Array].
Changing RAID Array setting causes data loss. Back up any important data in
advance.
RAID Scanning *1
*1: LS-WXL,
LS-WSXL only
A RAID scan tests your RAID array for errors. If errors are found, they are xed
automatically if possible. If you are using a RAID array, regular RAID scans are
recommended.
Recoverable errors found during standard le operations will be automatically
repaired regardless of performing RAID scanning or not.
Status Descriptions
Recoverable errors • Read error in the data area which are build in
RAID 1(including RAID 1 system area)
Unrecoverable errors • Writing error / RAID management area error /
drive partition information area / Drive Detection
Failure
If many recoverable errors (bad cluster) are found in one of the hard
drives which builds RAID, that drive will be removed and the system will
automatically move to degrade mode.
Since the data is not protected in the degrade mode, it is strongly
recommended to replace the erroneous hard drive immediately.
When running RAID Scanning in the rst time, it is strongly recommended to
backup data on the LinkStation in advance.
