z Light the boiler and heat the system to the maximum
working temperature. Test for leaks.
z Turn off the boiler and drain the system while still hot.
z Refill and vent the system.
z Adjust the initial pressure to the required valve.
2.2 Preparing the boiler for operation
2.2.1 Checking for leaks
z Disconnect the system from the power supply.
z Check all sections of gas pipework and connections
for leaks before starting up system for the first time.
If a leak is detected during tightness testing, use an
approved leak detector to check all connections for
possible escapes. The product must be certified as a
gas leak-testing agent. DO NOT allow the product to
come into contact with electrical wiring.
2.2.2 Purging air from the gas supply system
z Loosen the 4 crosshead screws on the ventilation
cover (fig. 24).
z Remove the ventilation cover.
z Close the gas service valve.
z Unscrew the gas inlet test point by two turns (fig. 25).
z Open gas service valve.
z Purge system and appliance as per relevent proce-
dures, IGE/UP/1b. Ensuring all safety requirments
are met.
z Close the gas service valve.
z Shut the gas inlet test point once more.
z Open cover for 2nd operating level (fig. 26, item 1).
z Make sure that system pump is running.
z Start boiler up and move chimney sweep switch
(fig. 26, item 3) to position “1”.
CAUTION!
CAUTION
DO NOT operate the condensing gas
boiler if large amounts of dust are present,
e.g. due to building work in and around the
place of installation.
