GENERAL: Furnish and install indoor, in-the-ceiling mounted,
direct expansion fan coil unit to be used without ductwork. Unit
shall consist of centrifugal, direct-drive blower type fan, fan mo-
tor, cooling coil, piping connectors, electrical controls, conden-
sate pump and hanging brackets. Unit shall be capable of being
used in a refrigerant circuit with a matching air-cooled outdoor
condensing unit.
Nominal unit electrical characteristics shall be
v, single
phase, 60 Hz. The unit shall be capable of satisfactory operation
within voltage limits of
vto v.
Unit shall be capable of providing a constant volume of air at a
specified external static pressure within the unit nominal oper-
ating range.
MAXIMUM DIMENSIONS: Indoor unit — width
in.,
depth
in., height inches.
CABINET: Cabinet shall be constructed of zinc-coated steel.
Fully insulated discharge and inlet grilles shall be attractively-
styled, high-impact polystyrene. Cabinet shall have filter track
and cleanable filters which shall be accessible from below with
a 1/4-turn fastener. Adjacent room cooling shall be provided by
a simple knockout in the cabinet side panel, and cabinet shall
have provisions to accommodate a limited amount of ductwork,
if desired.
FAN SECTION: Fan shall be centrifugal, direct-drive blower
type with air intake in center of the unit and discharge on the pe-
rimeter. Air louvers shall be adjustable for 2, 3, or 4-way
discharge.
COIL SECTION: Coil shall be copper tube with aluminum fins
and galvanized steel tube sheets. Fins shall be bonded to
the tubes by mechanical expansion. A drip pan under the coil
shall have a drain connection for hose attachment to remove
condensate.
CONTROLS: Controls shall be 24 v, and shall be easily oper-
ated by the user from a wall-mounted control unit. Float control
shall be in the condensate sump to shut unit down in case of
pump malfunction. A wall-mounted electro-mechanical thermo-
stat with 3 fan speed selections, and an auto/manual switch
shall be supplied for field installation. Evaporator coil freeze pro-
tection shall be provided.
APPROVALS: Unit shall be rated (when matched with a 538A
condensing unit) per ARI Standards 210/240 and shall be listed
in the ARI directory as a matched system. Units shall be UL and
CSA listed.
ACCESSORIES: Automatic start/stop timer, power ventilation
kit, fresh air intake kit, and electronic programmable thermostat.
