STANDARD SYSTEM FEATURES
HIGH-EFFICIENCY design with SEERs (Seasonal Energy Effi-
ciency Ratios) up to 12.0.
MICROPROCESSOR CONTROL on high wall units for accu-
rate control of the desired comfort level.
WIRED 24V CONTROLLER on in-ceiling (619F) and ceiling-
suspended (619C) units makes it convenient for the user to con-
trol system settings like fan speed, operating modes, and
temperature. The controller features a liquid crystal display
(LCD) that indicates system status at a glance.
DIAGNOSTICS alert the user to the existence of problems.
Diagnostics are standard for 619E high wall units and optional
with the electronic programmable thermostat accessory for
619C and 619F units.
BUILT-IN RELIABILITY COMPONENTS include a suction-line
accumulator that safeguards the compressor against loss of lu-
brication and start capacitors and relays (non-scroll units) to as-
sure dependable start-ups, especially during low-voltage
conditions (down to 187 v). High- and low-pressure safety
switches, crankcase heater (non-scroll compressor units), liquid
line filter drier, and lock-out protection are also standard on most
sizes.
The indoor units include protection against freeze-up and high
discharge temperature.
RESTART FUNCTION FOR AUTOMATIC START AFTER A
POWER FAILURE eliminates the need to manually reset the
unit after a power failure. The unit restarts in the same mode
that was operating prior to the power loss and also retains the
selected set point.
AUTOMATIC AIR SWEEP ensures evenly-distributed air within
the conditioned space for ultimate comfort. The air sweep fea-
ture sweeps the air from side to side on high wall units and up
and down on ceiling-suspended units (not available on in-ceiling
cassette units).
WEATHER-PROTECTED CABINET on condensing units is
protected with a heavy, galvanized steel coating, then coated
again with a layer of zinc phosphate to which a coat of polyester
powder is applied and baked on. This provides each unit with a
hard, smooth finish that will last for many years.
All screws on the cabinet exterior are coated for long-lasting,
rust-resistant, quality appearance.
TOTALLY ENCLOSED FAN MOTOR means greater reliability
under rain conditions and dependable performance for many
years. Permanent-split-capacitor-type motors provide the most
economical operation.
REFRIGERANT SYSTEM is designed to provide dependability.
Each unit leaves the factory with a refrigerant charge. Refriger-
ant service connections make checking operating pressures
easier. For precise refrigerant control, all 018-060 fan coil units
feature an AccuRaterT piston, and 009,012 outdoor units fea-
ture capillary tubes.
FIELD-INSTALLED ACCESSORY DESCRIPTION
AND USAGE
Internal Condensate Pump — The pump provides condensate
lift capability, and is an accessory for ceiling-suspended (619C)
and high wall (619E) fan coil units. It is standard on in-ceiling
cassette (619F) fan coil units.
SUGGESTED USE:
• The condensate pump accessory is recommended when ad-
equate drain line pitch cannot be provided.
Power Ventilation Kit — This kit provides up to 20% outdoor
air intake capability for the in-ceiling cassette (619F) units and
up to 30% capability on ceiling-suspended (619C) units. The
supplied filter clean the outdoor air, and a booster fan with
speed control is provided to allow for long duct runs and to bal-
ance airflow to the unit for consistent unit operation.
SUGGESTED USE:
• Applications where outdoor air intake capability is important.
Fresh Air Intake Kit — This kit provides for a variable amount
(up tp 30%) outdoor-air capability for the ceiling-suspended
(619C) and cassette (619F) fan coil units. Outdoor air is filtered
before entering the fan coil unit.
SUGGESTED USE:
• Applications where outdoor air intake capability is important.
Charcoal Filter Kit —The charcoal (carbon) filter kit is available
for high wall (619E) fan coil units. This accessory improves in-
door air quality by removing volatile organic compounds
(VOCs), odors, and microparticles from the air. The filter kit can
be installed either before or after the unit has been mounted to
the wall. Filters must be changed approximately every
3 months.
SUGGESTED USE:
• When enhanced indoor air quality is required.
Indoor Guard — The indoor guard (also called a discharge
grille) is a decorative wire guard for the ceiling-suspended
(619C) fan coil units.
SUGGESTED USE:
• Use to prevent objects from entering the unit and air sweep.
Electronic Programmable Thermostat — This programmable
accessory thermostat is available for the in-ceiling cassette
(619F) and ceiling-suspended (619C) fan coil units. The
commercial-grade thermostat provides 7-day, 4 event-per-day
scheduling. The integral subbase provides 3-speed fan switch-
over capability, air sweep, auto changeover, and non-volatile
memory (no battery required).
SUGGESTED USE:
• When enhanced system control is desired.
Crankcase Heater — Crankcase heaters are an accessory for
538A condensing units with scroll compressors. Heaters are
standard on units without scroll compressors.
SUGGESTED USES:
• Scroll compressor applications with line lengths over 100 ft.
• Scroll compressor applications where an accessory low-
ambient kit has been installed.
Winter Start Control — This condensing unit accessory is a
single-pole, single-throw delay relay which bypasses the low-
pressure switch for approximately 3 minutes to permit start-up
for cooling operation under low load conditions at low-ambient
temperatures.
SUGGESTED USES:
• All 538A units which have the accessory low-ambient kit
installed.
• Applications where low-ambient cooling is required between
55 F and 40 F outdoor-air temperature.
Low-Ambient Temperature Controls (down to −20 F) — The
low-ambient kit is a solid-state head pressure controller de-
signed to control condenser fan cycling, and is activated by a
pressure sensor. It is specifically designed to control fan-motor
cycles in response to saturated condensing pressure. This de-
vice maintains a constant saturated condensing temperature of
100F±10Fatoutdoor-air temperatures between 55 F and
−20 F, and may be used on all 538A and 538C condensing units
without changing the condenser-fan motor.
SUGGESTED USE:
• Applications where a significant amount of unit cooling opera-
tion is necessary at outdoor-air temperatures below 55 F.
