B25 OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN
THE BROWNING B25
The Browning 25 shotgun is one of the greatest masterpieces produced by an
unequalled imagination, the crowing achievement of the life of a great inventor
and the technical testament of an incomparable master: John Moses Browning.
Fabrique Nationale Herstal, heir to the Liege area’s world-famous craftmanship,
has made this «best gun» for you in this great gunmaker’s tradition.
The Browning 25 over and under o ers:
- a wide range of special models speci cally adapted to various types of game
and clay shooting. In particular, the most careful attention has been given to
the balance and weight.
- the ruggedness which has established its reputation. Throughout the gunma-
king process, this shotgun has been subject to innumerable inspection opera-
tions in order to guarantee the quality and precision of the component parts.
To these may be added all the manual operations designed to ensure perfect
assembly. The care given to adjusting the barrels to the action frame and to
achieving a perfect match between the bearing surfaces of the top lever and
of the recoil faces is one of the fundamental factors which guarantees the long
service life of the Browning over and unders.
- unsurpassed safety in use due, amongst other reasons, to the carefully studied
balance of the action parts. The sears and hammers are extremely securely
caught. Moreover, the trigger mechanism cannot operate as long as the gun is
not locked
The particularly strict selection of the steels used and the judicious choice of the
walnut not only for the wood’s weight and strength but for its appearance as well,
give your shotgun the individuality and exceptional character typical of Brown-
ing guns.
Your Browning 25 has been subject to operating, accuracy and endurance tests
in compliance with the Fabrique Nationale Herstal speci cations. It has also been
subject to the special tests carried out at the Liege Proof House (1.370 bars for
the 12 bore, 1.370 bars for the 20 bore, 1.020 bars for the 16 bore and 1.080 bars
for the 28 bore).
With a minimum of care, your Browning 25 shotgun will give you many years of
satisfaction. Before using the shotgun for the rst time, we recommend that
you carefully read through the instructions which follow.
CALIBRES AND AMMUNITION
The Browning 25 in the European range are made in the following calibres: 12/70,
12/76, 20/70, 20/76, 16/70 or 28/70.
The calibre of your Browning 25 is marked on the right hand side of the upper
barrel.
Never re a cartridge of a calibre unsuited to your shotgun.
If your barrel carries the mention (12 ga. shells - 2 3/4”), you can re all 12-bore
cartridges having an extended case length of 70 mm or less (2 3/4”) and even
magnum charges, but not calibre 12/76 cartridges (3”).
On the other hand if your shotgun is of a 20/76 calibre (20 ga. shells - 3”), in addi-
tion to 3” cartridges, it can re ammunition having smaller case lengths (70 mm
or 2 3/4”), provided certain precautions are taken for the maintenance of the
chamber (see «Maintenance, barrels»). Buckshot cartridges should not be red in
a barrel where the choke is tighter tha 1/4.
Warning!
Only use good quality ammunition with nonoxidising caps. A single oxidising
cartridge can ruin the best barrel in a matter of hours.
SINGLE SELECTIVE TRIGGER
Combined selector-safety catch
Your Browning 25 is either a double trigger or a single selective mechanical ac-
tion trigger shotgun. It enables two shots to be red in very quick succession. Im-
mediately after the rst shot is red, the single trigger mechanism automatically
readies the second barrel, even if the rst cartridge mis red.
The safety catch, located at the top of the action frame tongue, enables both a
selection to be made between the lower and upper barrels for the rst shot and
the shotgun to be set to safe.
