1) Remove the magazine.
2) Pull the slide backwards and inspect the chamber to make sure that there is no cartridge in it. Push
the slide back forwards, lower the hammer to the down” position.
3) Put the back of the pistol on a stable non-slip surface (Figure 16).
4) Push down the plug on the return spring in the slide and pivot the barrel bushing 90° (Figure 17).
5) Gently release the plug, and then remove it together with the return spring (Figure 18).
6) Move the slide backwards until the dismantling catch is in line with the slide catch.
7) Press on the raised part of the slide catch shaft from the right-hand side of the receiver. Take hold
of the slide catch and extract it on the left-hand side of the receiver (Figure 19).
8) Pull the slide forwards and extract it from the receiver (Figure 20).
9) Lift up the return spring guide shaft and remove it (Figure 21).
10) Pivot the barrel bushing 45° anti-clockwise until the lugs on the bushing are in line with the
opening on the front of the slide and then remove it (Figure 22).
11) Extract the barrel via the front of the slide (Figure 23).
No further dismantling is recommended for normal servicing and cleaning (Figure 24).
IF ANY MORE EXTENSIVE DISMANTLING IS REQUIRED, THIS SHOULD ONLY BE CARRIED OUT
BY A PROFESSIONAL GUNSMITH OR BY A BROwNING SERVICE CENTRE.
REASSEMBLING YOUR FIREARM INCORRECTLY MAY MAkE IT UNUSABLE, OR EVEN DANGE-
ROUS.
FAILURE TO RESPECT THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY DAMAGE YOUR FIREARM AND LEAD TO SE-
RIOUS INJURY BOTH TO YOU AND TO OTHERS.
ASSEMBLY
1) Put the barrel back into the slide.
2) Align the studs on the barrel bushing with the opening for the spring in the slide and reinsert the
bushing into the slide. Pivot it clockwise in order to free the area needed for holding the return
spring.
3) Put the return spring guide back into position in the barrel block with the end with the notch
towards the barrel, by inserting it in the front part of the slide and then pushing it backwards into
the barrel block. Make sure that the pin on the end with the notch has entered the barrel block.
4) Put the slide back onto the receiver. Move the slide backwards until the dismantling catch is in line
with the slide catch.
5) Put the slide catch back in the receiver.
6) Insert the return spring from the front of the slide sliding it into position around its guide shaft. Put
the return spring plug back in place.
7) Push the return spring plug into the slide and rotate the barrel bushing 90° anti-clockwise, until the
return spring plug is held correctly in position.
8) Load an empty magazine and put the hammer in its «down» position.
