Introduction Thank you for purchasing the TD-2020/2120N/2130N (hereafter referred to as “the printer”). The documentation included with the printer, including the Product Safety Guide (this document), the Quick Reference Guide (printed), and the User’s Guide (which can be found on the setup CD-ROM) contains operating precautions and instructions. The Software User’s Guide, which can also be found on the setup CD-ROM, contains operating instructions for the P-touch Editor software.
1 To use the machine safely If the printer malfunctions, immediately stop using it and contact Brother customer service for assistance. Symbols used in this document The following symbols are used throughout this document. WARNING Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if the product is handled without following the warnings and instructions, could result in death or serious injuries.
2 WARNING Do not operate, charge, or store the printer in the following locations, otherwise leaking, fire, electric shock, or damage may result.
3 WARNING Power cord/AC adapter Use only the authorized AC adapter (120VAC) and power cord that came supplied with the printer. Using any other AC adapter and power cord may result in a fire, electric shock or damage. Do not insert foreign objects into the terminals of the AC adapter, otherwise burns or electric shock may result. Do not touch the AC adapter, or the power plug with wet hands, otherwise electric shock may result.
4 CAUTION Printer Ensure that small children do not put their fingers in the moving parts or openings of the printer. Do not hold the printer with only one hand. The printer may slip out of your hand. Do not hold the printer by the RD Roll compartment top cover. There is a risk of injury if the cover detaches and the printer falls. Put the printer on a flat, stable surface such as a desk. Do not put any heavy objects on top of the printer.
5 IMPORTANT CD-ROM Do not scratch the CD-ROM, expose it to extremely high or low temperatures, place heavy objects on top of it, or bend it. Other warnings/precautions Printer Make sure that the power cord is accessible so that it can be removed in an emergency. Do not place objects on or near the power cord. Printers with (optional) Touch Panel DisplayBefore opening the RD Roll compartment top cover, close the LCD.
