Thisaircontrolnotonlycontrolstheamountofairforcombustionbutalsoprovidestheairforthe
‘airwash’systemas
well.
Air‐washSystem
Thisisasystemwhereairisdrawnintothestove(bycombustion)throughmainaircontroland
deflecteddownthebackfaceoftheglass,thuspreventingthesmokecomingintocontactwiththe
glass.Itdoesnotmeanthatyouwillneverhavetoclean
theglass,butsubstantiallylengthensthe
periodsbetweenhavingtodoso.Theair‐washsystemworksbestwhenburningdrywoodathigh
temperature.Wetandpitchywoodwillproducemoredepositsontheglass.Also,depositswill
formonthebackoftheglasswhenthestoveis
operatedonlowheatforextendedperiods.
Thefireneedssomeairtoburnsoclosingdownalltheairsupplywillmakethefiregoout.
Experiencewiththefirewillshowyoutherightbalanceoffuelandairtogetthebestoutofyour
stove.
