Figure 20 shows an example setup with the ServerIron ADX configured with the server cache
track-source-mac spoof-mac command.
FIGURE 20 With “auto-last hop” and “server cache track-source-mac spoof-mac” setup
In Figure 20, with the spoof-mac option, the following flow occurs:
1. Client sends SYN to the Internet server with Src MAC: A (client MAC), Dst MAC: B (Default
Gateway MAC)
2. ServerIron ADX intercepts this SYN, and sends it to the proxy server, swapping the client Src
MAC:A with Src MAC: B, Dst MAC: C (proxy server MAC)
3. Following the “auto-last hop” feature, the proxy server sends SYN to the Internet server back to
the ServerIron ADX with Src MAC: C, Dst MAC: B.
4. As a result, the ServerIron ADX sends SYN to the Internet server with Src MAC: C, Dst MAC:B
5. The return traffic also follows a similar flow.
NOTE
The TCS support for proxy servers with auto-last hop is available starting with the ServerIron ADX
release 12.4.00c.
