Installing ServerIron ADX modules in a running system
2
NOTE
This does not apply to the ServerIron ADX 4000 because it does not accommodate a Standby
Management module.
The module must be the same model as the Active Management module for the ServerIron ADX
8000 and ServerIron 10000 systems running Release 12.5.00 and later. Otherwise, the system will
generate an error message and not bring up the Standby module.
Installing an ASM module in a running system
You must first shut down the system to install an ASM module into a system. Install the ASM
module and then reboot the system.
Installing a SFM module in a running system
You must first shut down the system to install a Switch Fabric module (SFM) into a system. Install
the SFM module and then reboot the system.
Installing an Interface module in a running system
You may install Interface modules into a running system without any service disruption. When you
install the Interface module in its designated slot in the ServerIron ADX chassis, the module is
automatically detected and brought online.
NOTE
You must make certain that there is no configuration mismatch for the Interface module in that slot.
Installing Power Supplies in a running system
Provided you maintain at least the minimum number of power supplies in a ServerIron ADX, you
can install new power supplies without incurring an impact to operation of the system.
Installing fan trays in a running system
Fan trays can be installed in a running ServerIron ADX system provided you follow the limitations
described in “Uninstalling a Fan module”
