Description
Fabric OS 7.0.0b introduced support for the following new 16 Gbps FC hardware platform:
HP SN6000B 16Gb FC Switch
Up to 48 16 Gbps FC ports
4/8/10/16 Gbps FC for both open systems and FICON environments
Access Gateway mode
Virtual Fabrics with up to four Local Switches
NOTE: With Fabric OS 7.0.0b, when the HP SN6000B 16Gb FC Switch has a 10 Gbps FC
license, it no longer requires an Extended Fabric license to enable FC long distance capability on
10 Gbps FC ports.
Fabric OS 7.0.0a introduced support for the following 16 Gbps FC hardware platforms:
HP SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director Switch
HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director Switch
HP SN8000B 16Gb 32-port FC Blade for the HP SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director
Switch and the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director Switch
HP SN8000B 16Gb 48-port FC Blade for the HP SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director
Switch and the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director Switch
New 16 Gbps Core Blades for the HP SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director Switch and
the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director Switch (field upgrade of existing director with these
core blades is not currently supported)
Supports 4/8/10/16 Gbps FC for both open systems and FICON environments
Supports increased ICL bandwidth up to 2 Tbps (with optional licenses) on the HP SN8000B
8-Slot SAN Backbone Director Switch and up to 1 Tbps on the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN
Director Switch, and ICL distance up to 50m enabling flexible topologies
Supports up to eight slots for port blades and/or application blades on the HP SN8000B
8-Slot SAN Backbone Director Switch and up to four slots for port blade and/or application
blades on the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director Switch
In addition to the support for the new hardware, several new features were introduced in Fabric
OS 7.0.0x (summarized here, then explained in more detail in the section “New features (page
6)).
In-flight encryption and compression on 16 Gbps capable ISLs
Buffer credit loss detection and automatic recovery on 16 Gbps capable ISLs
10 Gbps FC capability on 16 Gbps FC platforms
Advanced diagnostic support on 16 Gbps FC platforms, including D_Port support and Forward
Error Correction (FEC)
