3.7.3 GroundCabling
Thepreferred methodfo rgro undingtheradiounitistogroundthemasttoagroundsource,since
thisprovidesthelargestgroundingsurfacecontactpossible.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenusethe
followingprocedure:
1. Attachthelugofthegroundcable(notprovided)withtheradiotooneofthetwo#8
holesatthebottomoftheradiousinga#832x½”longbolt, #8lock washerand#8flat
washers(notprovided).
2. Connectotherendofthegroundcabletoanearbygroundlocation.

Ifthe10/100BaseTportispermanentlyconnectedtoothernetworkequipment(notnormally
required),itshou ldbeconnectedusingCat5eUTPcablesratedfortheoutdoorand/orindoor
environmentswherethecableswillberun.
Itise ssentialthatthecablingbeconnectedtotheradiounitthroughanEt hernetratedsurge
suppressorinsideoftheplasticbackcoveroftheunit,andasurgesuppressorshouldalsobeusedat
thepointwherethecableentersabuildingorisco nnectedtootheroutdoorequipmentthatdoesnot
alread yconta insurgesuppressionhardware.
