Section 7 - TROUBLE SHOOTING
PROBABLE CAUSE
Insufficient water in pan/tank.
Pump strainer blocked.
Blocked water tubing.
Foreign material lodged in the
"water spreader/s".
Fan out of balance due to dirt, etc.
Cooler delivering more air than
needed.
Belt "squealing".
Loose water tubing connections.
Break in water tubing.
Pads not properly installed in pad
frames.
Incorrect or damaged pads fitted.
Float valve not sealing properly.
New cooler pads.
Cooler located near source of
unpleasant odor.
Algae in pan/tank water.
Pads remain wet after shut down.
High mineral content of supply
water.
SUGGESTED REMEDY
Refill water tank.
Clean strainer.
Clean the tubing.
Remove spreader/s and clean out
foreign material.
Clean fan.
Adjust motor pulley (sheave) to
slow down fan.
Tighten belt by adjusting motor.
Apply belt dressing to belt. In some
cases it may be necessary to
replace belt or pulley.
Tighten all connections.
Replace any cracked or broken
tubing.
Make sure pads are properly
installed.
Replace with the manufacturer's
recommended pads.
Clean or replace valve washer.
Run pump continuously for a while
to flush the pads.
Remove source of odor or place a
barrier between cooler and source
of odor.
Drain pan/tank and clean
thoroughly. Fill with fresh water.
Install new pads.
Allow fan to run for about ten (10)
minutes after pump is shut off to
dry out pads.
Drain water from tank more
regularly and refill with fresh water.
