Transient Suppression
ElectromagneticInterference(EMI)canresultfrom
inductiveloads,whichcanadverselyaffectelectronic
circuits.
Appropriately sized surge suppressors should
be installed whenever inductive loads such as
transformers, relays, solenoids, motors, etc. are
operated.ThiswillhelppreventtransientEMIsurges
fromdamagingthesensitiveelectroniccircuits.
H. Applytheappropriatesupplyvoltagetothepower
input terminals.
a. VerifytheStatusLEDisashingnormaloperation
–agreen“heartbeat”consistingofarepeating
pattern one second on and one second off.
b. IftheStatusLEDisashingred,theproblemmust
beresolvedbeforeCalibrationcanbegin.Refer
totheTroubleshootingsectionofthismanualand
theStatusCodeFlashTableformoreinformation.
I. AcceptorAdjusttheDeadband-Optional
a. Thefactorydefaultismidrange–thedeadband
potentiometerismidwaybetweenfullyclockwise
andfullycounter-clockwise.Ifthisisacceptable,
nofurtheradjustmentisnecessary.
b. Rotatethedeadbandpotentiometerclockwiseto
increasethedeadband.
c. Increasing thedeadband reducesthepotential
forthe actuator tooscillate aroundthe desired
setpoint.Thisoscillationisoftencalled“hunting.”
Anactuatorrespondingtoamovingsetpointis
nothunting,butisoperatingproperly.
d. Decreasingthedeadbandallowstheactuatorto
reacha position closerto thedesired position,
aslongastheactuatordoesnotoscillate(hunt)
aroundthesetpoint.
J. AcceptorAdjusttheOpenSpeed-Optional
a. Thefactorydefaultisfullspeed–theopenspeed
potentiometer is in the fully counter-clockwise
position.Ifthisisacceptable,nofurtheradjustment
is necessary.
b. Thefullspeed(fastestspeed)oftheactuatoris
listedonthelabel.
c. Rotatetheopenspeedpotentiometerclockwise
toreducetheopeningspeedoftheactuator.
d. Reducingtheopeningspeedoftheactuatorcan
allowmoreprecisepositioningoftheactuator.
K. AcceptorAdjusttheCloseSpeed-Optional
a. Thefactorydefaultisfullspeed–theclosespeed
potentiometer is in the fully counter-clockwise
position.Ifthisisacceptable,nofurtheradjustment
is necessary.
b. Thefullspeed(fastestspeed)oftheactuatoris
listedonthelabel.
c. Rotatetheclosespeedpotentiometerclockwise
toreducetheclosingspeedoftheactuator.
d. Reducingtheclosingspeedoftheactuatorcan
allowmoreprecisepositioningoftheactuator.

Reducingtheclosingspeedoftheactuatorcanalso
reducethepotentialofwaterhammerdamage.Electric
actuators are usually slow enough to avoid water
hammerevenatthefullspeedsetting–buttheuser
shouldverifythissetting.
Shielding
Signal/communication lines should be shielded.
Shieldmustbegroundedatoneendonly,preferably
atthecontroller.Groundingtheshieldatmorethan
onelocationcanintroducenoiseinthecircuitryby
forminggroundloops.
L. ConnecttheOutputSignaltotheprocesscontroller

terminal.
b. WirethenegativeconductortotheOUTPUT(-)
terminal.
c. Selectthedesiredoutputsignalrangeusingthe
Congurationswitches4,5and6.

a. Connect the wires from theAnti-Condensation
HeatertotheHEATERterminals
b. TheHeaterratingmustmatchthevoltagerating
oftheServoPro
