Opto IN24
CONFIGURATION
Introduction.____________
Read Chapter 1 first. This chapter explains how to
configure the Opto IN24 card ready to install in a PC. Detailed
instructions are given how to set the address select, the IRQ
jumper block and the output driver select jumper block. The
settings of the watch dog timer output are also explained.
The IN24 card will fit into 8 or 16 bit slots.
Configuring The Opto IN24 Card.______________________________
The Opto IN24 card is ready to plug straight into an PC.
Unless there is Good Reason, do not alter its default setting.
However, due to the large variety of individual PC
configurations Opto IN24 may need adjusting to suit the PC.
The default settings are i/o address 030CHex, IRQ 7 selected but
not enabled, and the Watch Dog output options, RESHI output
jumpered to BUS. Whetting voltage disabled. See Figure 6-1.
The Opto IN24 does not require any external power.
Setting The Opto IN24 I/O Address._______________________________
By referring to the Opto IN24 card locate the 8 way I/O
Address DIP switches at the left hand corner of the card. The
factory set address, 030CH, is set as shown in Figure 6-2. DIP
switches determine the Opto IN24 card i/o base address select,
DIP switches 1-7 correspond to the A2-A8 address lines,
respectively. DIP switch 8 is not connected.
The Opto IN24 card can reside at one of 128 base
addresses on an 4 byte boundary within the range 0200H-03F8H.
The factory set default address is 030Chex.
