6 Problem Solution
6.1 Errors During Printing
Error Cause and Solution
The printer has a print job but
does not print
The input signals to start the print of every single label is not connected or not used;
check the connections at the PLC interface.

Transfer ribbon wrinkles Printhead balance is not correctly adjusted; re-adjust the printhead balance (see
Operator‘s Manual).
Transfer ribbon is too wide; use transfer ribbon which is max. 10% wider than the
label media.
Not enough ribbon tension; check tension at ribbon supply hub.

Printed image has smears or
voids.
Printhead is dirty; clean the printhead.
Temperature too high; reduce heat setting using software.
Unsuitable ribbon/label combination; choose a different transfer ribbon.

Printed image is lighter on one
side.
Printhead is dirty; clean the printhead.
Printhead is out of alignment; re-align the printhead.
Printhead balance is not correctly adjusted; re-adjust the printhead balance (see
Operator‘s Manual).

Printed image is too light after
replacing the printhead.
Printhead out of adjustment; re-adjust printhead.
Printhead parameter set incorrectly; change heat level in the setup.

Printer does not stop after trans-
fer ribbon runs out.
Printer is set to direct thermal printing, choose transfer printing mode in the soft-
ware.

Printer does not print;
error message
"Out of Paper" or
"No label found"
Labels not fed through label edge sensor, load labels correctly.
Label edge sensor dirty, clean label edge sensor.
Label edge sensor is not adjusted (f.e. after replacing the CPU PCB); carry out the
adjustment.
Label edge sensor defective, replace sensor.
Swing arm in upper end position, since the release spring for swing arm is misad-
justed, re-adjust the release spring.
Swing arm in upper end position, since label roll is not locked at the media unwind-
er. Lock the label roll using the adapters.

Printer moves label stock, but
transfer ribbon does not move.
Transfer ribbon loaded incorrectly; check if coated side is facing towards the labels.
Unsuitable ribbon/label combination, leads to insufcient friction between labels and
ribbon; choose different transfer ribbon.
Torques at the ribbon hubs are misadjusted, re-adjust the torques.

Printer prints sequence of char-
acters instead of label format.
Printer in monitor (ASCII dump) mode; quit this mode by pressing the key.1.
Printer prints every second label. Label height setting in software is too large; correct setting.1.

Printhead defective (failure of heating elements); replace printhead.
