Medical emergencies
In the event of a medical emergency, please ensure your own safety first, call 911 and contact
the first aid attendant immediately.
Fire safety & emergency management
We are all responsible for recognizing potential fire hazards and reporting them as part of
taking an active role in preventing fires. Be sure to familiarize yourself with all of the exits and
locations of the fire extinguishers in each building.
In the event of a fire, your safety should be your first
priority. Below are the procedures to follow:
Immediately shout “FIRE” and activate the
nearest internal fire alarm pull station
Dial 911 for the Fire Department. State the
location and nature of the emergency or have
someone else do so and report back to you
If trained and safe to do so, attempt to
extinguish or control the fire with the
appropriate fire-fighting equipment
If not trained to do so, or if you cannot extinguish or control the fire, then try to contain it
by closing the doors
Evacuate the area and proceed to your meeting area
o Do not leave the assembly area until instructed to do so by the Fire Department
o Do not re-enter the building for any reason until the Fire Department indicates it
is safe to do so
Emergency meeting area
In the event of an emergency, proceed safely and immediately to the meeting area outlined
below.
Working alone after hours
We discourage all employees from working alone (i.e. with no other co-workers readily
available) after hours, without pre-approval.
