NOTE: When using 3 in (7.6 cm) vent pipe, use a 3 in (7.6 cm) to 2 in (5.1 cm)
reducer and exit the building wall with 2 in (5.1 cm) vent pipe using the 2 in (5.1
cm) 90 vent terminal supplied. Two 45 elbows are equivalent to one 90
elbow. Each 90° elbow is equivalent to 5 ft (1.5 m) of straight vent pipe.
Example of Total Vent Length
A 2 in (5.1 cm) venting system has a total of three 90° elbows and a total straight pipe
length of 35 ft (10.6 m). Equivalent vent length for elbows: 3 x 5 ft = 15 ft (4.6 m). Total
equivalent vent distance = 35 ft + 15 ft = 50 ft (15.2 m). This is equal to the maximum
allowed distance of 50 ft (15.2 m) for this model using 2 in (5.1 cm) vent.
A 3 in (7.6 cm) venting system has a total of six 90° elbows and a total straight pipe length
of 20 ft (6.1 m). Equivalent vent length for elbows: 6 x 5 ft = 30 ft (9.2 m). Total equivalent
vent distance = 20 ft + 30 ft = 50 ft (15.2 m). This is less than the maximum allowed
distance of 120 ft (36.6 m) for this model using 3 in (7.6 cm) vent.
