1 Residual current device (RCD). This protective device, also known as ‘Fehlerstrom-Schutzschalter’ or ‘FI-Schalter’ in
German-speaking countries, is used for personal protection. As soon as it detects dierential current / fault current, it
automatically disconnects the device from the mains.
